NONFICTION BOOK REVIEW #2020-021 - The Seek Challenge

SEEK, AND YE SHALL FIND IS NOT AS EASY AS IT SEEMS

I read this book via an Amazon KINDLE Unlimited download.

As I looked at this book before I began to read it, I began to ponder over the reason the author, Rochelle D. Mason, decided to use 21 as the number of days her challenge to her readers is supposed to last. When someone peruses the Bible, they will ultimately find that this number does appear in there at least twice. To begin with, according to the book of EXODUS, to escape their slavery by the Egyptians, the Israelites wound up performing 21 acts of rebellion. Then we’ve got JUDGES that contains a total of 21 books, thereby making the number 21 to become coupled with the concept of judgment.

It’s interesting to note that both MATTHEW in 7:7 and LUKE in 11:9 essentially state the same thing:

“Ask, and it will be given to you; seek, and you will find; knock, and it will be opened to you.”

Yet, while this might seem simple to do, the actual seeking in finding whatever you desire is a challenge, that many Christians, especially those who aren’t believers or are new to the faith would have difficulty in accomplishing, which is probably the reason why the author has decided to write her book.

Ms. Mason begins her book on the premise that those who are reading it are like a newborn child, an individual who is new to the faith, or who’s gotten reborn. She begins with DAY 1 with the question, “Why Seek God?” then follows on DAY 2 with the question, “What Does It Mean to Seek God?

Each chapter gets predicated on all the ones that had preceded it, culminating with her readers getting told to ask God for what they want, reflecting on how their lives have changed since Day 1, and urging them to keep up their newly found faithfulness. The transformation created by the book is marvelous for those who’ve read the book seriously, the author’s interweaving of appropriate scriptures only enhances the reading experience, which is why as a rather voracious reviewer of nonfiction Christian books, I’m pleased to give Ms. Mason 5 STARS for her endeavor here.
