DAILY REFLECTION #55 - 1 THESSALONIANS 3:12 [NKJV]

I know I hadn’t posted a reflection yesterday. While ALL in my family especially my Dear OH are healthy, my thoughts and actions regarding my involvement with the COVID-19 virus I needed to have a day of rest, much as in the same manner the Lord had rested after six days of creating everything in the universe; so today I'm posting a DOUBLE, albeit late REFLECTION.

For yesterday’s belated posting our topic is about us  living out that which we believe in.

“And may the Lord make you increase and abound in love to one another and to all, just as we do to you,”

Let us reflect on this today and let us say AMEN.

NONFICTION BOOK REVIEW #2020-039 - Seeds For Spiritual Growth

WHAT YOU SOW IN SEEDS IS WHAT YOU'RE GOING TO GET SPIRITUALLY IN A SPIRITUAL GROWTH

As Christians, we need to be like farmers in that the seeds that we sow is what we're going to get in return. Everyone is the same in that we all use the five senses that the Lord has given us to live our lives from day to day; we all possess the sense of sight, smell, sound, taste, and touch.

However, we as Christians desire to ascend to a higher level in our lives, which is having a closer and more intimate relationship with the Lord. While the food we consume might feed our bodies, we need some spiritual food to feed our souls. We need to remember that ROMANS 14:17 [NKJV] reminds us:

"For the kingdom of God is not eating and drinking, but righteousness and peace and joy in the Holy Spirit."

Since there are different components which make us as we are as a human being, there are several components which comprise our spiritual well being as Christians. And just as farmers sow different seeds to reap the different crops for their harvest, the author of this book, Stephanie Fernald, does the same for her readers.

Ms. Fernald brings her readers back to their interactive days at Sunday School, dwelling into five topics [seeds] that will aid in their spiritual growth in their Christian religion and a closer spiritual relationship with the Lord. This interactive approach includes reading/meditating on specific scriptures along with explanations as to what is being studied and ending with an appropriate prayer to the Lord, reflecting the topic for each seed component. These seeds include:

1 – Their approaches towards situations and other individuals by recognizing their shortcomings and replacing them with the strength and wisdom from the Lord, or in other words attaining a positive view of life itself.

2 – Being able to trust the Lord and trusting others.

3 – Being patient for the Lord regarding His response timing and what they're able to learn during this waiting period.

4 – Their holding on to hope during their times of upheaval and to the Lord's words regarding hope itself, and its eventual restoration.

5 – [Using the author's own words] To discover that no matter what you have been through in life, you are loved by God and called according to His purpose. Discover biblical truths about who you are in Christ and God's true character as our heavenly Father.

For wanting to have her readers grow from being a child spiritually in the eyes of the Lord to become a full-fledged adult spiritual Christian, being the voracious reviewer of nonfiction Christian books that I am, I can't hesitate in giving Ms. Fernald the 5 STARS she's garnered from me.

NONFICTION BOOK REVIEW #2020-038 - A.S.K. God: How to Find Your Kingdom Purpose and Serve the World with Your Gifts!

A DETAILED STUDY AND EXPLANATION OF MATTHEW 7:7 and LUKE 11:9

Practically every Christian has heard or read the two scriptures that got mentioned in the title for this review and are quite familiar with them. However, what do these two verses, in reality, mean.

What the author of this book, Andrea G. Williams, has done for her readers is to break down the components of these verses: ASK, SEEK, and KNOCK, to give them an authoritative insight and scriptural explanation as what they, in reality, mean to them in their lives.

This book is a book of self-discovery for any Christian who is thoughtless of their abilities or the purpose for why they are living. And sometimes, these individuals are unaware of what they desire and are surprised when they get it. The reason for this is found in PSALM 37:4 [NKJV] we read:

"Delight yourself also in the LORD, And He shall give you the desires of your heart."

The Lord has an intention for everyone, which is why He, on occasion, might make us suffer, a suffering that will give us an experience that can lead us to realize what the purpose of our existence is.

I believe that part and parcel of ASKing deals with the idea of giving, as we read in LUKE 6:38 [NKJV]:

"Give, and it will be given to you: good measure, pressed down, shaken together, and running over will be put into your bosom. For with the same measure that you use, it will be measured back to you."

For wanting her readers to attain the knowledge of their life's purpose as to the Lord's plan for them, and to recognize the gifts, they're capable of giving to others; I've given Ms. Williams the 5 STARS she deserves for her endeavor here.

TODAY’S SUPPLICATION TO THE LORD #11

Christians, especially those who are believers, should be praising the Lord each day by offering a prayer regardless of how brief it might be. With the harried lives we’re living, it’s not always that easy to formulate one, and many might be homebound for one reason or another, especially now with the COVID-19 prevent us from going to church, which why I’ve decided to offer a weekly suggestion [on Sundays] designed to suffice this need for them. If anyone desires to leave a comment regarding the prayer offering for today, please feel free to do so.

My God, the soul that you have placed with us is pure. Thou has created it; thou has formed it; thou has place it with us. Thou has preserved it with us; thou will take it from us, and restore it to us in the hereafter. So long us the soul is within us, we will offer our thanks before you, Lord our God, Master of all creatures, Lord of all souls, O Lord, who will restore the souls to the dead.

And with that, let us say, AMEN

SUNDAY HYMN #7 - The Lord's Prayer - Andrea Bocelli

There are several parts to every Church service individuals play witness to or participate in every week. There’s always the obligatory sermon given by the leader of that church’s congregation; there’s the communal reading aloud of scripture, and finally, there’s the what I feel is the most inspirational part of any Christian service, which is the congregation singing of a hymn or hymns.

Since the singing of a hymn is a captivating part of any service, I’ve decided to post one each Sunday. So you, my blog followers, can sing along with it in the privacy of your homes. If you’re not familiar with it, then just sit back and listen to the beauty of its words on this YouTube video

For my offering for this week is the hymn/song: “Andrea Bocelli - The Lord's Prayer.”

I hope you’ll enjoy listening to it or singing along with it.

AMEN

NONFICTION BOOK REVIEW #2020-037 - How To Live The Christian Life Successfully...Victoriously: A Practical Guide On Christ-Centered Victorious Living

IT’S TIME TO MATURE IN ANOTHER ASPECT OF BEING A GOOD CHRISTIAN

I read this book via an Amazon KINDLE Unlimited download.

We Read In 1 CORINTHIANS 3:1 [NJKV] the following:

“And I, brethren, could not speak to you as to spiritual people but as to carnal, as to babes in Christ.”

The reason that I’m mentioning this scripture is that I believe there are far too many Christians who possess difficulty in living the lifestyle the Lord would love them to live. This difficulty is probably due to their being ignorant of how to live such a life, for we’re still children in the eyes of the Lord when it comes to the aspect of being a Christian.

And in ancient times, this had been the task the Lord had given Timothy to do as is stated in scripture when we read 1 CORINTHIANS 4:17 [NKJV]:

“For this reason, I have sent Timothy to you, who is my beloved and faithful son in the Lord, who will remind you of my ways in Christ, as I teach everywhere in every church.”

Perhaps this is the reason the author of this book, Sheldon D. Newton, has taken it upon himself to step into Timothy’s to teach the Lord’s believers this information anew.

The author begins his book by telling his readers that going from just being merely a good Christian to a good Christian living Lord’s intended lifestyle is a progression. A progression in which one goes from merely having a relationship with the LordHim to that one becomes learned in the Lord and His ways. In the pages of this book, he directs his readers to a pathway fraught with the values necessary to lead them to a triumphant and victorious in the eyes of the Lord Christian lifestyle.

I started my review by talking about how many Christians are still like a baby without any knowledge of living a proper Christian life. The author desires that his readers will be able to mature in their spiritualistic growth into an adult who is ready to take on the responsibility of living a Christian life that the Lord desires all of His believers to live.

For wanting to transform his readers from being a mere baby to an adult in regards to living a Christian-based lifestyle, as a voracious reviewer of nonfiction Christian books, I’ve given Mr. Newton five 5 STARS for his endeavor here.

Beyond comparison is His holiness.

NONFICTION BOOK REVIEW #2020-036 - The God of Apple Juice and Spilled Milk

RAISING YOUR CHILDREN ACCORDING TO THE LORD’S INSTRUCTIONS

Although we’ve been married for over 26 years, we haven’t gotten blessed with any children; perhaps it’s for the best since one of us [me] has a genetic condition we wouldn’t want to pass on to any children we might have had; besides we had married in our late 30s and early 40s.

So I read this book philosophically to see it offers to those fortunate to have become parents.

We first have to remember that scripture one than once instructs parents as to what they need to do for their children, for example

DEUTERONOMY 11:19 [NKJV]
“You shall teach them to your children, speaking of them when you sit in your house, when you walk by the way, when you lie down, and when you rise up.”

PROVERBS 22:6
“Train up a child in the way he should go, And when he is old he will not depart from it.”

I looked at this book from a child’s point of view, and I found it to be an ABC instructional manual as to how to raise a child, starting with giving them the vital the unconditional love they need. Followed by knowing what the child must feel like with its experiencing growing pains like having their first teeth coming in, falling and bruising themselves, etc. and knowing what to do.

The book contains a beautiful interweaving of scripture, providing aspects of the Lord’s caring for His children and the author’s own experiences raising her offspring.

For wanting to give individuals who have gotten blessed with children a spiritual guidebook as to how they should raise them in the eyes of the Lord, I’ve given the author, Karen Cogan, 5 STARS.

NONFICTION BOOK REVIEW #2020-035 - How GOD Leads & Guides!: 20 Ways God Speaks

GETTING TO RECOGNIZE WHEN THE LORD IS SPEAKING TO YOU

1 JOHN 3:1 [NKJV] states:

“Behold what manner of love the Father has bestowed on us, that we should be called children of God! Therefore the world does not know us because it did not know Him.”

And as His children, He speaks to us to lead and guide us along the path the Lord has chosen for us to follow. The unfortunate thing about this is that many individuals are unaware when He does speak to them.

What the Doc Yeager has done in this book is to give his readers the knowledge of how to recognize when the Lord speaks to them. When things happen in the lives of individuals, it might get caused by His speaking to them. As I wrote my first two Christian books, I need some guidance as to what I should write next. When I did think about this as I laid in bed before falling asleep, I had a dream of what I needed to write; this dream could have only come from the Lord.

In the pages of this book, as the description states: Doc Yeager shares 20 surprising ways that the Lord Leads & Guides his people. Each chapter has gotten filled with powerful truths, sensible directions, and the author’s own amazing personal experiences.

For wanting his readers to attain enlightenment as to how to recognize when the Lord is speaking to them, as a voracious reviewer of nonfiction Christian books, I’ve given Doc Yeager 5 STARS for his endeavor here.

NONFICTION BOOK REVIEW #2020-034 - "Be a Woman of God Devotional: A 365 Day Devotional Dedicated To Women"

IMPROVING YOUR STANDING AS A CHRISTIAN WOMAN

I read this book via an Amazon KINDLE Unlimited download.

PROVERBS 31:30 [NKJV] tells us that:

“Charm is deceitful and beauty is passing, But a woman who fears the LORD, she shall be praised.”
And if you’re a Christian woman, isn’t this the way you’d love to be.

To attain this ambitious goal, the author, Cindy A. Kent, wants her readers to know that women need to improve their manner of walking in faith as well as heightening their Christian personality. Unlike other devotionals, there is no lengthy dissertation, etc. of a specific verse of scripture. Instead, readers will find a find thought-provoking or a challenging statement followed by a scripture and are then left to meditate as what it means to them in their lives.

For example, I’m writing this review on March 13th; it is the 73rd day in the year of the Lord [AD = Anno Domini] 2020, and for this day the book gives its readers the following:

Be a woman of God and know that the Lord sees all that you do for Him.  “For God is not unjust to forget your work and labor of love which you have shown toward His name, in that you have ministered to the saints, and do minister” (Hebrews 6:10).

One of the first things that came to my mind is 1 THESSALONIANS 1:2-3 [NKJV] where we read:

[2] We give thanks to God always for you all, making mention of you in our prayers,
[3] remembering without ceasing your work of faith, labor of love, and patience of hope in our Lord Jesus Christ in the sight of our God and Father,
[4]knowing, beloved brethren, your election by God.

The author in compiling this book wants to remind her readers that the Lord is forever on the search for Christian women who follow what’s written in PSALM 105:4 [NKJV]
“Seek the LORD and His strength; Seek His face evermore!”

For wanting her Christian women readers to achieve the book’s goal in their lives, I’ve given Ms. Kent the 5 STARS she’s garnered for her endeavor here.

NONFICTION BOOK REVIEW #2020-033 - "Unwavering Faith: Daily Christian Gospel Devotionals to Understand the Bible and God’s Word"

GROW IN THE KNOWLEDGE OF THE LORD AND YOUR FAITH

I read this book via an Amazon KINDLE Unlimited download.

Belonging to the Christian faith with all of its intricacies contained in the Bible's scriptures, it's a monumental task to understand everything. The authors of this book, Jenny Lucado and Max Tripp, in their writing this book, want to have their readers improve their knowledge of the Bible as they increase their relationship with the Lord.

As with all devotional type of book, this book starts each chapter with a specially selected scripture followed by a brief description/biblical explanation of it and ending with a task for its readers to do.

The order in which each day's selection of scripture has gotten replaced in this book acts as the basis for the next day. The more one reads the encyclopedia; the Bible has to offer readers; the more will their life improve spiritually. This life improvement gets accomplished as readers recall the biblical reason for their existence here on earth. Readers are like children, children who need to learn about believing in the Lord's graciousness and replying on His benevolence, and as this occurs, readers get the ability to rekindle their existence in the Holy Spirit.

As a rather voracious reviewer of nonfiction Christian books, I feel the authors have fulfilled their intended premise for writing this book, which why I've given them 5 STARS for their endeavor here.
