NONFICTION BOOK REVIEW #2020-062 - How To Hide God's Word In Your Heart: Keys To Remembering More Of What You Read From Your Bible (Understanding the Bible Series Book 1)

GETTING TO KNOW THE BIBLE FROM YOUR HEARTS AND NOT ONLY YOUR MINDS

I read this book via an Amazon KINDLE Unlimited download.

In the past eighteen months or months I’ve gotten into reading/reviewing nonfiction Christian books, and if you’ve got any doubts, just read the reviews I’ve written during this period, which so far this year has accounted for over 70% of the almost 90 books I’ve reviewed.

Reading this many books from this genre wound up inspiring me to write two Christians of my own and forgetting the amount of spiritual knowledge and understanding I’ve begun to obtain. The only problem I’ve got is trying to recall the scriptures off the top of my head as if they’d be coming from my heart, which is what attracted me to read this book.

I admire those Christians who can seemingly rattle off scriptures to others as they discuss the Bible with them, and would to be able to do the same, even if it’s to a lesser extend.

In writing this book, author Sheldon D Newton wants his readers, including me, to acquire the ability to remember more of what we read when it comes to scriptures. The ability to do this is what I would like to achieve, and in writing this book, the author is fulfilling what we read in both MATTHEW 7:7 and LUKE 11:9 [NKJV]:

“Ask, and it will be given to you; seek, and you will find; knock, and it will be opened to you.”

To achieve his desired goal with his readers the author has written this book in an unambiguous and easy to comprehend manner using biblical notions that have the ability to change a person’s life through the usage of various study aids, so ultimately his readers might possess the ability to have the words of the Lord emanating from their hearts. And when this occurs, the author, I believed would it would fulfill what we read in DEUTERONOMY 6:6 [NKJV]

“And these words which I command you today shall be in your heart.”

Being able to know the entire Bible my heart is a lifelong task, and this book endeavors to make it a bit easier for its readers to begin the memorization process, which is why I’m giving this book and its author the 5 STARS it has gotten.

DAILY SCRIPTURE REFLECTION #143 - PROVERBS 19:16 [KNJV]

The topic I’ve chosen today for my Christian blog concerns whether we’re obeying the word of our Lord.

“He who keeps the commandment keeps his soul, But he who is careless of his ways will die.”

THIS SUNDAY'S SUPPLICATION TO THE LORD #24

Christians, especially those who are believers, should be praising the Lord each day by offering a prayer regardless of how brief it might be. With the harried lives we’re living, it’s not always that easy to formulate one, and many might be homebound for one reason or another.  This is especially true now with the COVID-19 virus preventing us from going to church, which why I’ve decided to offer a weekly supplication on Sundays designed to suffice this need. If anyone desires to leave a comment regarding the prayer offering for today, please feel free to do so.

“God of the first and of the last, God of all creatures, Lord of all generations, endlessly praised be he who guides his world with kindness and his creatures with mercy. The Lord neither slumbers or sleeps; he rouses those who sleep and awakens those who slumber, he enables the speechless to speak and sets the captives free, he supports all who fall and raises all who are bowed down. To thee alone we give thanks.”

And with this, let us all answer, AMEN

SUNDAY SONG/HYMN #20 - ONLY IN GOD

There are several parts to every Church service individuals play witness to or participate in every week. There’s always the obligatory sermon given by the leader of that church’s congregation; there’s the communal reading aloud of scripture, and finally, there’s the what I feel is the most inspirational part of any Christian service, which is the congregation singing of a hymn or hymns.

Since the singing of a hymn is a captivating part of any service, I’ve decided to post one each Sunday. So you, my blog followers, can sing along with it in the privacy of your homes. If you’re not familiar with it, then just sit back and listen to the beauty of its words on this YouTube video, especially these days, with the COVID-19 virus preventing you from doing this in our favorite church.

For my offering for this week is “Only in God” sung by John Michael Talbot.

I hope you’ll enjoy listening to it or singing along with it if you know the words.

AMEN

DAILY SCRIPTURE REFLECTION #140 - ROMANS 10:13 [NKJV]

Sorry for the late posting. I had written this early in the morning but then I started to get phone calls concerning the rescheduling of my election for an abdominal hernia that got canceled in March due to the COVID-19 virus. I first needed clearance from my Primary Care Physician and my Cardiologist.  My PCP's office is not seeing patients, but my Cardiologist is. So after speaking to my surgeon's secretary I conceived him just to take the clearance from my Cardiologist since his approval is more important and he's duplicating things that my PCP would be looking at. I got my appointment for my Cardiologist less than 2 weeks from now and my surgery for the first week in August. Two days before my admission I need to get a COVID-19 testing done. Right now I'm beginning to pray that everything regarding the surgery will be great.  I was checking my blog and saw I had totally forgotten to do this post.

The topic I’ve chosen for my Christian blog concerns whether we’re committing ourselves to the Lord.

“For “whoever calls on the name of the LORD shall be saved.”

Have a BLESSED DAY with whatever you’re going to be doing my dear “sisters and brothers,” especially if it involves doing it for our Lord !!! 😊 😊 😊

Please feel free to leave your comments, I would love to read them, and to have you become a follower of this blog if you’re not one already.

NONFICTION BOOK REVIEW #2020-061 - "Searching Isaiah: Learning Line Upon Line"

A SERIOUS MASTERPIECE FOR STUDYING THE BOOK OF ISAIAH

I reviewed this book via a copy I downloaded from Amazon KINDLE Unlimited [KU].

With just over 70% of the 88 books I've reviewed so far this belonging to nonfiction Christian book genre, I've become quite astute in reading/reviewing them.

Of all the books belong to the Old Testament, the Book of Isaiah has to be the most influential one that Jesus himself had to have read. With this being the case, any author that is wishing to dwell into the prophetic nuances of Isaiah's powerful words, words which the Lord himself came to quote many times during His brief time here on Earth, can't just cut to the chase to give readers a quick overview.

The refusal of the book's author, David Armstrong, to take this easy pathway out in compiling this masterful bible study book for the Book of Isaiah, is highly commendable since this book isn't a simple overview, it's a painstaking line by line examination of the book. Each line is fraught with details that will give readers enlightenment as to the meaning of what has gotten written by Isaiah.

Author Armstrong further adds to the beauty of Isaiah's words by his impressions and experiences as he wrote this book. This book is a must-have for any serious devotee or student of the bible, which is why as the voracious reviewer of nonfiction Christian that I am, I'm happy to give author David Armstrong the 5 STARS that I've given him.

Note: This book involves the Mormon/LDS faith.

NONFICTION BOOK REVIEW #2020-060 - Because God Is . . . I am: Scriptures from GOD Who Are You? AND Who Am I?

Those of you who happen to follow my reviews know that I possess a compassion for reading/reviewing books of a non-fiction Christian nature. If fact, so far this year over 70% of the 85 reviews I written have been for the book of this genre.

Of the multitude of topics non-fiction. Christian books deal with I’m especially enthralled by those books which have its readers simply reflect on carefully chosen scriptures that dwell into the various aspects of the Lord according to His Hebrew names. Each chapter serves to denote to a single aspect of the Lord’s greatest, and what happens as we related to each one, such as:

God is Jehovah-Rohi [The Lord is My Shepherd]
I Am Guided When I follow.

God is El Shaddai [The All-Sufficient One]
I Am Blessed.

God is Jehovah-Rapha  [The Lord is Healer]
I Am Healed.

The author, Ann Morgan Miesner, uses the knowledge she’s gained through life experiences with the Lord to educate her readers, especially women, as to who the Lord is, and who they are in the Lord’s eyes. While this book is an excellent reading experience when reading it alone, the power that this has becomes far more evident when it is read in small, intimate bible study groups of women; this is not meant to exclude any men from the power this book can have on their lives. The reason I’m saying this, rest in the understanding women share the same sort of life experiences, which men can’t even begin to understand, such as being blessed with carrying the seed of life for the next generation of Christians.

It is for this reason, as a reviewer of Christian books, I’m grateful I’ve given Ms. Miesner, the 5 STARS she justly deserves.

DAILY SCRIPTURE REFLECTION #130 - 1 CORINTHIAN 1:10 [NKJV]

Today I’ve changed the order of the posting of my on-going commitment in providing some sort of a Christian Sunday service due to all of us still being unable to attend services at our favorite church as a family. I want to make it easier to follow the service in the manner I want it to be read.

The topic I’ve chosen for my Christian blog today concerns our longing desire to live in comfort and peace

“Now I plead with you, brethren, by the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, that you all speak the same thing, and that there be no divisions among you, but that you be perfectly joined together in the same mind and in the same judgment.”

Let us say AMEN, and let us reflect on this today.

“May the glory of our Lord be forever, and may He rejoice in His works. Blessed is the name of the Lord from this moment and forevermore. From the rising of the sun to its setting, let the glorious name of the Lord be praised. High above all nations is our Lord, and above the heavens is His glory. Oh, our Lord, your name is forever and your fame is timeless. Our Lord has set up His throne in the heavens and His kingdom rules overall. Let the heavens rejoice and let the earth exalt Him by proclaiming that “The Lord is King.” Our Lord is King, our Lord was King, and He shall be king forevermore.

And with this, let us all answer, AMEN

THOUGHTS ON THE COVID-19 VIRUS #7 - 2 CHRONICLES 7:13-14 [NKJV]

With all the items I keep posting on my blog here, from daily scripture reflections to Sunday’s supplications to the Lord, I haven’t done enough regarding us dealing with the COVID-19 virus.

Given this, my dear Christian “sisters and brothers” to close my shut-in Sunday Christian service let us reflect on 2 CHRONICLES 7:13-14 [NKJV]

[13] When I shut up heaven and there is no rain, or command the locusts to devour the land, or send pestilence among My people,
[14]
if My people who are called by My name will humble themselves, and pray and seek My face, and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin and heal their land.

Let us all say AMEN.

DAILY SCRIPTURE REFLECTION #128 - LUKE 4:10 [NKJV]

I know the hour is late, the thing is my dear OH and I just got home about an hour ago. With Westchester County in New York State reopening itself under Stage 2, we spent last night at a marvelous home belonging to a Christian friend I’ve connected with online. We spent the morning with her and her family in prayer and just chatting, after lunch we got down to catching up with things we still can’t get done in the city, the most important of which had been in getting our much-needed haircuts. I had so much wanted to get my hair dyed again, but this service is still not being allowed so I’m stuck walking around with a head of grey hair.

The topic I’ve chosen for my Christian blog today concerns the protection we’re receiving from the Lord.

“For it is written: ‘He shall give His angels charge over you, To keep you,”

Let us say AMEN, and let us reflect on this today.

Have a BLESSED WEEKEND with your families !!! 😊 😊 😊
