'IT HAD ONLY BEEN A GAME" - SNIPPET #1

If you haven’t read a snippet on this blog before, then read this first.

This snippet comes from my debut YA/NA Christian romance story entitled, “It Had Only Been a Game.” It is design to give you an idea of what is going on in various parts of the storyline.

FROM CHAPTER 1

When they reached the gym, building a huge banner hanging on the outside greeted all of the incoming freshmen. Once inside, under an arch made up of bright balloons of the school colors of black and gold, they saw the all-important welcoming table.
“Hi there, I’m Chelsea Elizabeth Bailey.”
“And I’m Amanda Phillips.”
“Here’s your badges, guys. Welcome and enjoy the festivities.”
They’d been in the gym for only less than five minutes when Chelsea heard someone calling her name.  The voice sounded familiar, but she couldn’t recognize anyone as she looked through the crowd already gathered there to whom the voice could belong
“Hi Chelsea,” came the masculine voice again, still time from behind her. The unknown guy the voice belonged then began to slowly placed his arm around her shoulder and kissed her on her cheek from behind her.
Chelsea gasped and quickly turned around and with a gut reaction swiftly slapped him across his face as hard as she could,
While Amanda merely stared in amazement of what she’d just seen happening, the poor guy Chelsea had slapped got taken back from what had happened, he didn’t know what to say or do next as he never had anything like this happening to him before.
“That was some quick response,” said Amanda.”      “I guess coming from New York, things like this must have happened to you at one time or another,” replied Chelsea.
“It has. Once I slapped a guy’s face so hard that his eyeglasses flew off, and he picked them up off the floor and then quickly disappeared.”
Chelsea took another look at the poor guy she’d just slapped as he continued to rub his cheek, and in disbelieve, said: “Aren’t you…”
“Yes, I’m Brian. Brian Gregory Williams.”
“Oops. Sorry, Brian, about the slap I just gave you. I didn’t recognize who you were.”
“Don’t worry about it. It’s quite okay.”
“Brian, what happen to you?” remarked a shocked Chelsea. “I couldn’t recognize you. You’re tanned, got wavy blonde hair, and your horn-rimmed eyeglasses are missing; and most shocking of all is you’ve become quite forward towards a woman.”
“For now, let’s just say, I’m not at home,” replied Brian, still in shock and feeling the pain from having been slapped in his face by Chelsea.
Feeling sorry for what she did, Chelsea gave Brian an apologetic kiss on his cheek.
