NONFICTION BOOK REVIEW #2020-054 - No Half-Truths Allowed: Understanding the Complete Gospel Message

GIVING A LIGHT TO THE TRUE MEANING OF THE GOSPEL

In the play, "Marmion," written by Sir Walter Scott, there's a line that reads, "Oh! What a tangled web we weave, when first we practice to deceive." This oft-spoken line refers to the complexity of life that exists when individuals start lying. While this usually is connected to the all-inclusive love triangle, it also can, unfortunately, be applied to the Gospel of the Lord.

Sometimes when individuals start professing that they're very knowledgeable when it comes to the intricate messages the Gospel is telling those who read it, the unfortunate reality is they're merely communicating grievous generalities, ambiguous ideas, and what's worst, half-truths.

It is this reason that the faith-driven authors of this book, Christine Paxson and Rose Spillers decided to clear the air of these inaccuracies, and investigate the true meaning of the Gospel and Christianity for their readers. Their commitment gets found in what we read in JOHN 8:32 [NKJV]

"And you shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free."

In their description for this book, the authors enumerate what the important truths their readers should know about, especially if they're interested in sharing the true Gospel with anyone else. An interesting thing about the book, if you're reading this, is that you're not alone in the lacking of actual knowledge concerning the Gospel.

The book, with its 11 chapters takes readers on a lit pathway of knowledge from being a mere child in regards to the Gospel to an individual who's able to articulate the meaning of the Gospel to others. It is, for this reason, I'm glad to give Ms. Paxson and Spillers the 5 STARS they've garnered for their endeavor here.

There's an interactive study guide for this book with questions and Scriptures to help readers delve even deeper into understanding the complete Gospel message and enhance the reading of this book.
