NONFICTION BOOK REVIEW #2020-050 - "You Can Thrive, Solo Mama: Caring for Your Home and Children with Joy While Your Husband is Away"

NON-MILITARY WIVES, YOU ARE NOT ALONE WHEN IT COMES TO BEING ALONE WHEN YOUR SPOUSE IS AWAY FOR PERIODS OF TIME
How many of you reading this love to read romances? How many of you are into reading those romance, which happens to fall under the sub-genre of military romances? How many love fantasizing about being in the shoes of the female protagonists in these stories, longing to be in the arms of the man in uniform in these stories and the HEA you’ve always desired to have with a guy who’s considered to be a hero in another person’s eyes other than your own. While these stories are lovely to read, there’s a reality which is seldom, or better yet, never gets covered.

In this book, authors Tricia Blackford and Suzanne Mae takes you from the realm of romance books and fiction into the real world, the real world of which they’ve been a part of for a combined total of 20 years. The blunt reality is not like in a romance novel where you’re marrying the guy you love; you’re also marrying all his comrades in the service he’s enlisted in along with a new way of life you probably didn’t foresee or had imagined. You’ve probably just wanted to settle down, own a home, and raise a family, but once you’ve become a military family, you go where they want you to go and when they want you to go. And even though you might remain stationary in one place, your dear other half might be deployed.

The authors in their book have aptly described how they’ve managed to sustain herself and her family through the years they’ve been obedient military spouses.  The book is fraught with suggestions for their readers aimed at preparing themselves for the time their spouses will be away for some time, suggestions that deal with their children, and, of course, daily household chores, etc.

While this book’s target audience seems to be the wives of military spouses: this book should prove to be quite beneficial for any woman who has a spouse with a career that requires him to be away for extended periods.

Given the excellent intention of this book, how can I not give it or its authors 5 STARS?
