NONFICTION BOOK REVIEW #2020-039 - Seeds For Spiritual Growth

WHAT YOU SOW IN SEEDS IS WHAT YOU'RE GOING TO GET SPIRITUALLY IN A SPIRITUAL GROWTH

As Christians, we need to be like farmers in that the seeds that we sow is what we're going to get in return. Everyone is the same in that we all use the five senses that the Lord has given us to live our lives from day to day; we all possess the sense of sight, smell, sound, taste, and touch.

However, we as Christians desire to ascend to a higher level in our lives, which is having a closer and more intimate relationship with the Lord. While the food we consume might feed our bodies, we need some spiritual food to feed our souls. We need to remember that ROMANS 14:17 [NKJV] reminds us:

"For the kingdom of God is not eating and drinking, but righteousness and peace and joy in the Holy Spirit."

Since there are different components which make us as we are as a human being, there are several components which comprise our spiritual well being as Christians. And just as farmers sow different seeds to reap the different crops for their harvest, the author of this book, Stephanie Fernald, does the same for her readers.

Ms. Fernald brings her readers back to their interactive days at Sunday School, dwelling into five topics [seeds] that will aid in their spiritual growth in their Christian religion and a closer spiritual relationship with the Lord. This interactive approach includes reading/meditating on specific scriptures along with explanations as to what is being studied and ending with an appropriate prayer to the Lord, reflecting the topic for each seed component. These seeds include:

1 – Their approaches towards situations and other individuals by recognizing their shortcomings and replacing them with the strength and wisdom from the Lord, or in other words attaining a positive view of life itself.

2 – Being able to trust the Lord and trusting others.

3 – Being patient for the Lord regarding His response timing and what they're able to learn during this waiting period.

4 – Their holding on to hope during their times of upheaval and to the Lord's words regarding hope itself, and its eventual restoration.

5 – [Using the author's own words] To discover that no matter what you have been through in life, you are loved by God and called according to His purpose. Discover biblical truths about who you are in Christ and God's true character as our heavenly Father.

For wanting to have her readers grow from being a child spiritually in the eyes of the Lord to become a full-fledged adult spiritual Christian, being the voracious reviewer of nonfiction Christian books that I am, I can't hesitate in giving Ms. Fernald the 5 STARS she's garnered from me.
